Sumptuous ewer with its basin from the Louis XVI period in sterling silver with the hallmarks of the city of Marseille. The basin, oval in shape,the marli engraved with a garland embellished at the ends with a ribbon holding a medallion engraved with intertwined initials IC. The ewer, in the form of a baluster, rests on a pedestal engraved with leaves as a reminder at the base of the ewer, the body is enhanced with reeds and garlands taking up the decoration of the basin, as a reminder on the hinged lid finished with a seed and its foliage in applique. The winding handle is surmounted by a freshwater snail. We know several Marseille ewers with exactly the same handle. Master goldsmith: attributed to J.
