Large terracotta bust representing Louise Brongniart (1772-1845) from her marriage becomes Madame Naval de Saint-Aubin, then Marquise Picot de Dampierre She is the daughter of the famous architect Théodore Brongniard (1739-1813) creator of the famous Brongniard palace (headquarters of the stock market). This splendid bust is made from the work of Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828) renowned for his many busts of political and cultural figures. He was also very good friends with Théodore Brongniard, he made this bust of Louise, aged 7 at the time, as well as that of her brother Alexandre. The original busts are currently kept in the Louvre. The statue that we offer was made of terracotta with a waxed patina and dates from the beginning of the 20th century.
