HENRY VAN VELTHUYSEN (1881 – 1954) Born in Tanjung in Java. He left for the United States to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berkeley and returned to settle in Batavia in 1905. Considered one of the "Beautiful Indies painters", he participated in the diorama of the Dutch Indies pavilion at the exhibition Colonial of 1931 in Paris. He was also an art critic for the illustrated weekly "Reflector" of the Netherlands Indies.
