Magnificent small oil on oval format paper. young woman where Vestal in oval format. The painting is in very good condition but it needs to be re-glued because air bubbles have formed between the paper and the panel. I had the paint cleaned. this superb and delicate oil is the work of NICOLAS BERNARD LEPICIE born in Paris in 1735 and died in the same city in 1784. He was a pupil of Carle Van Loo, approved by the Royal Academy, second prize of Rome. Often compared to Chardon and Greuze, his painting enjoyed great success in the 18th century. It appears in many museums around the world including the Louvre, the Hermitage Museum, Versailles (Trianon) etc... Marked in ink on the reverse on the panel "Lépicié pinxit 1780" it has been appraised and attributed by the expert firm René Millet. it is presented in a 19th century frame in good condition of 32 cm x 28 cm. The painting alone, 16 cm x 12.5 cm.
