Gio Colucci (1892-1974), Very beautiful silk engraving representing the Return of the Mahmal, Italian School, Gio Colucci studied architecture at the Beaux Arts in Paris, then in Cairo where he practiced. Traveled in 1917, and exhibited in 1919 at the Salon des Beaux Arts. In 1956, he founded with Gino Severini the Italian School of Art. Many museums keep his works. This is a very beautiful silk engraving, signed lower right: Gio Colucci. Our painting is the representation of a 13th century Ottoman tradition: The Procession of Mahmal. This is the official caravan carrying the ornate cover of the Kaaba, performed in Cairo and transported to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage. In very good condition, very well framed, very light soiling on the bottom of Marie Louise. Tiny. Weight: 2860 g.
