"Marble Font With Angel's Head - 16th Century"
A beautiful Renaissance work, this Italian stoup in red marble from Verona, also called Marble of Sant Ambrogio.In its center sits an angel's head in high relief, with soft lines with its hair and fine facial features. Hemmed lips and finely drawn nose, this angel exudes tenderness.
Its outstretched wings welcome and protect the receptacle of holy water offered to believers.
A beautiful massive basin, in good condition, which was once sealed in a wall of a chapel.
Dimensions of 65 cm wide by 51 deep for about 11 cm high. A piece appraised by Mrs. Fligny
