Count Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta, born in Como on February 18, 1745 and died in the same city on March 5, 1827, was a Lombard physicist and chemist. He is known for his work on electricity and for the invention of the first electric battery, called a voltaic pile.
The aquatint is engraved by Luigi Rados, born in Parma in 1773 and died in 1840, Italian painter, engraver and lithographer. In particular, he masters the techniques of etching, aquatint and stippling, as well as the chisel.
