"Brussels 1734-37, Sterling Silver, Petrus Van Eesbeeck, Pair Of Candlesticks"
Magnificent and extremely rare pair of Louis XV period candlesticks in sterling silver. Of a typical shape for the period 1720-1740 in the Austrian Netherlands, these candlesticks are still designed in a rather Louis XIV style as was the fashion in our regions at that time. They bear the two hallmarks of the city of Brussels (head of Saint-Michel and Lion of the Duchy of Brabant), the annual letter for the period 1734-1737 and the hallmark of master goldsmith of Petrus van Eesbeeck, master from 1717 until his death in 1742. His widow will be allowed to continue her workshop for many years. They weigh 785 grams for the pair.
