The Accolade by Mêne represents a group of Arabian horses, inspired by the Tachiani stallion and the Nedjibé mare from Algeria. This iconic work by the artist captures an evocative scene for horse lovers. He made four versions of this subject in different sizes, between 1851 and 1865.
The Accolade n°2, made in 1851, was the very first model. The sculptor presented it to the public during the Salon of 1853, under the title "Arabian Horses".
