Circa 1720-1740 Italy Venice Beautiful Baroque wall hanging in cream silk satin applied and embroidered in the Grotesque with floral cuts and architectural elements draped with extreme refinement. Piece collected in Venice and dating from the beginning of the 18th century. Formerly bed slopes, Good Grace, gathered and sewn in the middle. Polychrome silk embroidery in needle-paint with shades of color processed in gradation. Note several period repairs to the silk and composite lining of cream silk and linen. Fresh and preserved colors despite the structural fragility of the silk. Good general condition considering its age. Dimensions: 245 cm high by 103 cm wide.
