Hello, I am offering this very beautiful and important Glazed terracotta planter by Ezio Ceccarelli. Italian work, work dated between 1883 and 1927. I'm just pointing out a wing that was formerly glued, you can hardly see it! Artist: EZIO CECCARELLI Born in Montecatini (Italy), 07/27/1865 - Died in Volterra, December 1927 Very large planter all in enamelled terracotta, with elongated angels at each end, decorations of fruit garlands. Work in good condition of very large dimensions with a lot of cachet. Born in Montecatini (Italy) on July 27, 1865 into a very poor family, he lived in Florence in the 1880s where he discovered his gifts for drawing and sculpture in the studio of the sculptor Ulisse Cambi, then in 1881 he returned to Academy of Fine Arts in Florence where he will follow the courses of the sculptors Augusto Rivalta, Augusto Passaglia and Raffaello Pagliacetti. In 1883 he sculpted a bust "Dopo il rimprovero". In 1898, he won first prize at the international competition in Turin with a head of Christ: "Ecce homo" and in 1900 he won the Gregoriano competition in Rome with "Noli me tangere". He took part in the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and 1904. In 1908 he won the project for a monument to the independence of Buenos Aires. In 1910 he took part in the decoration project for the Vittorio Emmanuele bridge in Rome. In 1920 he exhibited a "Cleopatra" at the Primaverile Fiorentina. He died in December 1927.
