"Statue Olifant Pierre Boyo Drc Zaire (near Luba Lega Hemba)"
vHere is a rare stone Boyo ceremonial olifant (trunk) statue, very few of their objects have come down to us. An interesting presentation of the detour of the worlds =>
BOYO This statue which also makes an olifant, was placed after the funeral celebration on the tomb of the ancestor and could therefore recall its spirit during later ceremonies.
Very nice brown / black patina with many traces of use, the navel serving as a mouthpiece for the olifant and emits a powerful sound, I tested!
From a collection in the south west of France. Height 34 cm and 36 with its wooden base.
