One of the most elegant and innovative French furniture designers of the 20th century, Jacques Adnet created a simple, unadorned signature style that was both elegant and vigorous.
He began his career at the height of the art deco era, and in the 1950s, in association with Hermès, he created chairs, lamps, desks and other pieces that employed thin metal structures covered sewn saddle leather.
With furniture like this, Adnet brought a fashion sensibility to design and decor that hadn't been seen since the 1920s of the great Parisian couturier-decorator Paul Poiret.
