"Lubin De Beauvais Cartoon Press"
Typical Parisian café scenes at the turn of the 20th century. Lubin de Beauvais (1873-1917) after a stint at the School of Fine Arts from 1887 to 1889 worked as a press illustrator, notably for Le Rire, Charivari and l'Assiette au beurre. He has also illustrated books for both children and adults. Executed in Indian ink and white gouache, the drawing is framed in a modern baguette. Signed lower left and stained lower left (visible in the photograph) the sheet alone measures 25.5 x 38 cm.
