Jean-Baptiste COLLET was the Architect and Inspector of the King's Buildings in the Dehors Department of Versailles (1734-1748), Controller of the King's Buildings in the Department of Blois and Chambord Castles (1748-1773) then Vincennes ( 1773-1779). From 1760, he led the works for the Château de Menars for Madame de Pompadour and her brother the Marquis de Marigny.
