This early 19th century marquetry chest of drawers, made in Italy circa 1880 is of exceptional quality. A stunning piece of Italian craftsmanship that catches the eye and pays homage to the famous "Cassettone Intarsiato" model created by the Italian cabinetmaker and "intasiatore" ( marquetry maker) Guiseppe Maggiolini in 1790. Incidentally, this famous chest of drawers is on display at the Furniture Museum in Milan. Elaborately veneered with beautiful olive and walnut woods, this exceptional dresser features extraordinary and detailed floral marquetry work done in various precious wood species such as maple, plum, birch, walnut and beech . It has three large drawers with pretty brass applications, the central drawer being additionally decorated with a woman's head. A one-of-a-kind Italian chest of drawers, in perfect restored condition, which impresses with its absolutely incredible design.
