Object description :

"Large Pair Of Vases In Paris Porcelain Empire Period"
Exceptional pair of Medici vases in Paris porcelain. The neck, the pedestal and the base of each vase are gilded with fine gold. On the belly of these vases cartels are painted representing for each of them a landscape. On one of the landscapes, a rural valley; populated by sheep grazing near a river; opens on a hill on which dominates a castle whose central body is built of bricks. On the other vase, the view of a church and outbuildings opens onto a river lined with willows. Each cartel is framed by a band in matte and burnished gold. On each vase, inscriptions appear "view of Achy" and "view of the castle of Achy". This is indeed a view of the castle and the church of Saint Martin, Saint Fiacre d'Achy in the Oise. The Château d'Achy was rebuilt in 1750 in brick for the Carvoisin family and still dominates the Thériney valley today. This castle became by a game of alliance in the possession of the Clermont Tonnerre family whose most illustrious inhabitant was the Marquis of Clermont Tonnerre, Minister of War under the reign of Charles X in 1826. Each vase is provided with two handles with finely worked fauna masks. The vases bear the Feuillet mark painted in gold. Jean-Pierre Feuillet (1777-1840) was one of the most famous decorators of his time. He entered the drawing school founded in Chantilly by the Prince of Condé. On July 20, 1814, he received a patent from the Prince of Condé for his porcelain shop “Auxarmes de Condé” located at 18 rue de la Paix in Paris. He used to buy white porcelain from the Nast factory before affixing his decor. He was one of the suppliers of the Condé family and the aristocracy under the Restoration. His successor was Jean Boyer. Many of his works are kept at the Musée de Chantilly. Work from the first half of the 19th century. Circa 1820-1830.
