Erotic Work By Filhos For Maison Chrisofle

Sculpted work by the artist Jean FILHOS (1921-2002) for Maison Chrisofle.  Architect, sculptor, goldsmith, Jewelery designer Filhos produced a series of erotic pieces that created quite an impact. His work has been exhibited since 1962 and he has participated in numerous Salons. This silver-plated work representing naked men and women was made as the official Christmas present from Maison Christofle in 1974 for important public figures (source: Christofle Museum and Archives service). On the blade of this letter opener is an inscription "BON CHRISTMAS 1974". Equal engraved signature of the artist as well as that of Albert Bouilhet charismatic president of Chrisofle from 1969 to 1993. During this period, Christofle solicits from 1970 painters, sculptors, architects & designers to create original works each time at the occasion of a Christmas or a New Year.
