The hinges and the lock are made of brass: some cut-outs reinforce the corners to protect it from shocks, while those very openwork on the front and on the top of the lid are highly decorative.
The writing board opens onto different compartments reserved for paper, pen and inkwells, those on the sides closed by swivel wooden lids.
Please note that key is not original one and doesn't be used to lock the box (it enter to the lock but don't turnon it)
Missing left edge of the lid that may require light restoration
