Beautiful 1st age cradle, which was hung under beams of chalet close to bed, thanks to its four side horns.
Made from beech, all sculpted and engraved with solar rosettes, pine branches and geometric decorations, it still has some traces of polychromy.
It could also be easily dismantled, to transport it from valley to alpage chalet: 3 square section pegs, two others for the arch in hazel wood with a pretty decor. Two long notches made it possible to secure the infant, who was strapped in his nappies until 19th century. (view photo).
