19th Century Provençal Basket, Colored Basketry, Used Condition

Beautiful closed basket from our region, wickerwork and colored straw weaving, rectangular, domed lid opening in two parts, a leather handle on each leaf, which closes with a leather strap on which craftsman's brand is stapled , tinplate, like all fasteners.
This basket, more than one century old, very tired, had a happy retirement, transformed by a lover into a work basket, and who lined it with colored fabric one or two generations ago, and perhaps also changed the leather closure. Condition is not faultless: some little play, the basketry has dried, it has some gaps, marked by our white arrows, one more rediscovered later, but this is a normal condition for a sensitive object of this age.
