Object description :

"Italian Landscape View Of Bay From Foothills 19th Century Large Oil Painting"
Signed: Augusto Corelli (1853 - 1918). Superbly and professionally drawn Italian landscape. A narrow path, an alley hanging over it with centuries-old oaks, a sea bay in the distance, several figures of people going about their business - this is the whole simple basis of this wonderful Italian landscape. Italian landscapes are always alive and material. With what subtlety the tonal relationships are resolved: the precisely defined foreground gradually, according to the laws of aerial perspective, passes into the distant plan, immersed in the sultry Italian sun and sea. The sun gently envelops all facets, depriving them of strictly defined contours. The Italian sfumato performs a miracle here and makes the viewer feel the movement and vibrations of the air in this beautiful work. This painting will be a wonderful and peaceful element in your interior. And will always delight your eyes.

A. Corelli trained artistically at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, where he graduated at the age of eighteen. He was a pupil of the Neapolitan painter Achille Guerra. He attended the Giggi Academy in Rome in Via Margutta which had been founded by a model for the study from life of the human figure and at the time constituted a meeting point for the most renowned artists, including foreign ones. In 1879 he moved to Paris where he remained only a few months because he did not find the environment suitable for his artistic vision. In fact, he was attracted above all by the landscape and the rural mountain world. He was charmed by the beauty of its inhabitants and by the landscape views. In this place he began a feverish pictorial work, returning several times and recruiting anti-colonists as models, many of whom, within a few years, became professional models. In 1881 he joined the Society of Watercolors and in 1909 he became its adviser. Augusto Corelli is among the first Italian artists to discover the environment of Anticoli Corrado , following the example of the Danish painters Niels Andreas Bredal and Carl Otto Haslund . His watercolors are particularly appreciated. Titles and Acknowledgments: Advisor and academic professor at the Reale Insigne Accadiemia di San Luca, vice president of the Society of Amateurs and lovers of Fine Arts in Rome, honorary member of the Vienna Watercolor Association, honorary member of the Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo Association, honorary member of the Association watercolor painters of Rome, correspondent member of the Munich Secessionists, judge in painting competitions and ministerial judging commissions to admit professors to art institutes.
