"XIee Overshot Glass Water Pitcher"
Seriously, this faith in my prose: this is a potbellied glass pitcher with a silver metal lid. Venetian object from the beginning of the 20th century which took up the American technique of overshot glass. The object was shaped by rolling the blown glass into a cluster of finely ground glass shards creating a particular structured surface. Technique dating from around 1880 in Boston. The handle, roughened, placed hot, after polishing the pontil. Object of great class, in perfect condition.
