"Wig In Gray Hair To The Queen And Her Wooden Marotte - France XIXth Century In The Taste 18c"
19th century in the 18th century France style Astonishing gentleman's wig with hair stapled to its wooden puppet numbered 54, and probably dating from the 19th century for the Theatre. Real hair (and not horsehair given their finesse) in grisaille and Venetian blond exactly like Marie-Antoinette who gave the name to this very special color! I couldn't take it apart, but you can see at the base of the hair a cotton net frame whose assembly and style should correspond to the wig boards described in the Encyclopedia of d'Alembert and Diderot in the 18th century. The marotte (old hat form) also appeared in the 19th century. Styling and pampering is still necessary. Good general structural condition. Size: Height 26cm. Head circumference 56 cm.
