Germaine Bouret is a French illustrator, born in 1907 in Paris, from an English mother and a Berry father. She had a twin brother, her whole life and work have been marked by his twinness.
At a very young age she was drawn to drawing.
After taking drawing lessons, she joined Lanvin as a fashion designer. At the age of twenty she created her publishing house, her first works concerned menus, engravings, postcards. At the beginning of the 1940s, she refused to work for the "Walt Disney" studios.
Towards the 1950s, things accelerated, she was excessively solicited by publishers, she illustrated a large number of books.
She died suddenly, victim of a heart attack at the age of 46.
