Rare Louis XV style pewter dish. Scalloped borders with bas-relief scenes inspired by ancient mythology (gods, goddesses, putti, tritons, etc.) on a gold background. In the center, two intertwined L surmounted by the royal crown on a lay of fleur-de-lis. Artist's mark on the front and back. Jules Brateau (1844-1923), sculptor, goldsmith and pewter potter whose Musée d'Orsay keeps several pieces. He is known to have enabled the revival of the art of pewter. Good condition with age wear.
