"Form Woven Palatine Shawl - Amédée Couder Manufacture Fortier Paris – Circa 1839"
Circa 1839 France Paris Shawl woven to the shape with a cut-out throw numbered 17280485 which made it possible to marry the shapes of the leg sleeves of the dresses of the same period. Neo-Gothic design with a large central rose window and undulating, architectural borders in the style of Amédée Couder. Eight color contrast bottle green background and original sewn harlequin borders. Excellent state of color and preservation. Dimensions: At least wide 172 cm X 168 cm, at widest 216 cm, 196 cm. A comparable example presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1839 by Maison Fortier is kept in the collections of the Smithsonian Institute in the United States.
