Stunning limestone carved capital depicting menacing lion, its mouth wide open revealing its fangs.
The head is surrounded by a wide mane
The top (upper part) is highlighted by 2 successive cornices, while both similar sides are decorated with a frame embellished with cylinder motifs.
Very good condition for this medieval architectural part, no fracture or restoration, and very beautiful patina
Some residual authentic traces of green, black and white colors
Sizes: approx 35cm width * 38cm depth * and 31cm height
Weight: around 30kg
To compare with similar representation of the mouth of the roman gargoyle, also posted online this week.
