"Alcove Cartel Marquetry With 5 Colors"
Very beautiful alcove cartel entirely covered with marquetry in counterpart of brass and tortoiseshell enhanced with mother-of-pearl and polychrome horn with a decoration of scrolls of flowers and palm leaves on the bottom of the lamp. Ornamentation of chiselled and gilded bronze, a winged dragon on the door and summit of the god Pan on the damping. The enamelled dial is in a single part indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in increments of five in Arabic numerals. Several traces of an abbreviation stamp "G" and "NG". label trace. Dial and quarter-and-a-half-hour striking movement by printing on demand on three bells, signed "Lelubois in Paris" It is Toussaint Michel Lelubois, master watchmaker in 1724 and listed on Place Baudoyer. (Mark R crown on movement) Note: our very characteristic set could be linked to the trade of the cabinetmaker "Noël Gérard" (active at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV around 1730-1736 then activities taken over by his widow until 1749) .
