Biography:
In 1918 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, but his father's hostility to this project forced him to instead attend the architecture course at the Milan Polytechnic, where he graduated in 1922. He embarked on a career as an architect-scenographer between Milan and Berlin, and here he made his debut in 1923 with a solo exhibition at the Kasper Art Room. His favorite theme was the urban landscape; frequent travels to Holland, England, South America provided him with ever new themes. Watercolor is his favorite technique, and to achieve effects of transparency he experiments with painting on porcelain and white crystal. In 1948 he settled in Bardonecchia, alternating his painting with his commitment as an architect.
