Pendulum composed of a Bronze Sculpture with Brown Patina depicting a Flute Player, surmounting a Base in Green Sea Foam Marble. French sculptor and winner of the Prix de Rome in 1839, Célestin Anatole Calmels (1822-1906) was the student of James Pradier, as indicated by the signature on the terrace of the Bronze. This Work represents a Musician holding a Flute in his slender Hands and wearing a Hat decorated with Feathers and a Ribbon held by a Rose. On his shoulders, a large cape covers his outfit worked in detail. Below, a large Base in Green Sea Marble, whose octagonal base is surmounted by a molded circular part and a shaft with vertical flutes, containing a refined clock with movement to be revised. ******** Period: 2nd part of the 19th century Pendulum in excellent condition.
