PITCHER in pewter, with shoulder, flared foot, short quarter-round goblet and tasseled thumb.
Countermark of Jonas II TAUDIN master in Bordeaux and owner of the mould: initials I.T.
Hallmark of an unidentified master: crowned hammer / P.G already noted with the control of MARENNES for 1691.
Height: 22.2cm.
MARENNES, Early 18th Century

This unidentified master with the initials P.G whose punch was noted previously on a dish. He melted this pitcher in a mold rented or bought from Jonas II TAUDIN received master in Bordeaux around 1693, whose countermark I.T is visible inside the handle.
It is here as far as I know. the only pitcher listed in this small center located south of La Rochelle and close to Saintes.
Note the great similarity in shape of the body of this Saintonge jug with that of the Guyennais jugs.
These pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
