Note that a similar model is exhibited in the very select Parisian hotel restaurant "Le Cheval Blanc" recently opened in the Samaritaine building in the heart of Paris by the CEO of LVMH Bernard Arnaud. It has 72 suites, four restaurants and a spa. Two BYL sculptures are housed in the hotel's most exclusive residence: a 1,000 m² apartment with seven bedrooms, a spacious living room, marble bathrooms and a private gym. Called The Apartment, it has secure and independent access to the street, a private swimming pool where the entire aquatic area of the apartment has a bay window through which you can admire the Sacré-Coeur. The hotel has a dazzling video map designed by artist Oyoram. The apartment, like the hotel and many other LVMH-owned buildings, was designed by architect Peter Marino and contains a museum-quality inventory of artwork. A painting by James Siena "Ssonsunurrhth" hangs in the library alongside a sculpture by Guillaume Byl. The living room is furnished with a Steinway grand piano. In the apartment's dining room, an abstract painting, T1989-L42 by Hans Hartung, hangs above a row of citrine yellow chairs. A guardrail gilded with flowers unfolds along a stairwell: commissioned in addition to a loveseat and two sculptures by the artist Claude Lalanne. (Source of the Financial Times newspaper). William Byl was born in 1974 in Cholet in Maine-et-Loire. Since 2013 he has been exploring the techniques of modeling and ceramics. He creates dreamlike figures with animal or anthropomorphic shapes enriched with geometric patterns and scarifications sometimes evoking Africa where he spent his early years.
