A pupil of Jules Chéret, he created between 1895 and 1905 in the Chaix workshop many posters for the world of entertainment and leisure.
His oil paintings, watercolors and pastels take up fashionable subjects: classical or Spanish dancers, landscapes, gallant scenes, but also portraits or family scenes. He is the friend of Alfons Mucha.
Péan's studio was located at 80, rue Taitbout in Paris. In 1918, he married Émilie Marguerite Canod, but had no children. He is buried in the Parisian Chapelle Cemetery.
