"Large 18th Century Marquetry Chest Of Drawers In The Style Of Simon Oeben."
Rectangular chest of drawers with a slight central projection, opening with five drawers in three rows. In the lower part, the two drawers are without visible crosspieces and are decorated on either side with a marquetry of bottomless cubes and in the center, with a marquetry of quartefeuilles, the whole surrounded by borders with geometric patterns. The sides have the same decoration of cubes. The apron is scalloped and embellished with a gilt bronze cul-de-lamp. The three drawers in the upper part open with small rings. The uprights with rounded cut sides are adorned with gilt bronze drops decorated with ram's heads and are inlaid simulating wide grooves. The four legs are arched and sheathed in gilded bronze clogs with a lion's claw motif, the edges are concealed by stylized rushes. Very beautiful veined and molded white marble top, scalloped shape, very thick (3.8 cm). Period around 1900.
