Sterling Silver Game Box William Neale & Sons Ltd Birmingham 1912

Silver game box William Neale & sons ltd Birmingham 1912. Interior lined with wood. A removable wooden slat acts as a divider to compartmentalize the box. The top of the box has a small indentation that is visible in our photos. 

In order of alignment, the box shows the William Neale & Sons Ltd. goldsmith's hallmark, the Birmingham city hallmark showing an anchor, and the lion or Britannia hallmark of after 1820, guaranteeing the quality of the silver. Finally, the hallmark showing an "n" relates to the year 1912 and it is the year in which the coin was verified by the Assay Office.

William Neale & sons ltd is a company founded by William Neale in 1850 in Birmingham. In 1896, the company became William Neale & Sons and consisted of a partnership between William Neale senior, William Neale junior and Arthur Neale. New premises were built at 29 Warstone Lane, Birmingham. 
In 1905, the company became a limited company under the name of William Neale & Sons Ltd. In 1910 it moved to 34 Cox Street, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham. In 1941, the company was absorbed by Suckling Ltd.
