"Alexandre Kostanda (1921-2007) Vallauris Enamelled Stoneware Service"
Bottle and 6 sandstone cups made by our artist with clay brought from Cluny (Saône et Loire) and red clay from Vallauris mixed together. After firing at high temperature, the material is then enamelled. The enamel is of a beautiful nuanced color in shades of white / gray, ocher, yellow and light brown with a beautiful finesse of execution despite its rustic appearance. The traces of the shooting are visible inside the glasses under the cover. Made in his workshop in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes) around 1960. The signature "A. Kostanda Vallauris" as well as the workshop stamp under the bottle and the workshop stamp and AK under each cup. A beautiful complete set with its minimalist and stripped down look just as we like it. Height of the bottle: 25.5 cm Height of the glasses: 5.8 cm and 4 cm in diameter when opened Very good condition. A small enamel defect at the base of a glass (see photo). Among the many works that deal with the artist, we note "The Golden Age of Vallauris" by Anne Lajoix, Les Éditions de l'Amateur, Paris, 1995.
