Superb sculpture by Raphaël Nannini (19th and 20th century) was born in Florence. He was a student at the Florence Academy. He works as a sculptor in his hometown and performs figures in bronze and ivory (chryselephantine) for French companies like the nephews of J.Lehman and Edmond Etling at the beginning of the 20th century. He also exhibited at the Paris Salon. The Hussar is a soldier belonging to the light cavalry. The Hussars were above all used for reconnaissance and raids to supply the army on the march. The Hussars constitute a type of military cavalry in the European armies from the 17th to the 20th century. Bronze with brown patina signed on the embankment.
