"Pair Of "athenians", Years 50-60."
The Athenians have their origins in Greek antiquity and were then used as incense burners or 'braziers'. Their use resumed under the Empire whose style suits them well. Ours are from the 50s and 60s, in the style of the Jansen house (1880-1989). The tripod base, in brushed metal, is made up of 3 tubes, fixed in the base thanks to 'cornets in bronze', and retained by 2 'tie rods' secured to the 2 other tubes and crossing 2 by 2 thanks to double discs in bronze. These 3 feet are fixed to 1 upper crown in bronze decorated with ove leaves by 3 'staples' with a laurel leaf motif. It supports the 'stove' in metal and gilded brass. A circular slab of white marble is closing. The indented triangular pedestals, with a leaf motif, rest on lion's feet. They are weighted with lead. Beautiful objects of great decoration in perfect condition.
