"19th Century Naval Officer's Box"
Travel case that belonged to a naval officer. The lock bears the name of the travel kit manufacturer Audot rue neuf Montmorency -Feydeau in Paris. The lid carries cabinets inlaid in brass with a coat of arms adorned with an anchor flanked by 2 stars surmounted by a helmet topped with a star surrounded by a plume of feathers. The interior is composed of various levels of removable storage allowing the storage of everything necessary for writing and the toilet for long journeys. Several crystal bottles and containers with solid silver lids chiselled in medallion with the owner's initials surmounted by the coat of arms. There are multiple sleeved cardboard storage compartments. Unfortunately a floor with amber utensils for writing and sewing is sparse (the scissors, the thimble... have been misplaced!!!) it nevertheless persists the seal to be stamped on the cupboards. Do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
