Fernand Herbo is a painter and lithographer from Montmartre established in Honfleur, born in Orchies in the North in 1905 and died in Équemauville in 1995.
He was appointed painter of the National Navy in 1944. Painter, watercolourist, he deserves undoubtedly, to be recognized as one of these little masters of the 20th century. In 1950, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, to which he has always remained faithful, he presented a port that was very noticed.
Painter from Montmartre, he settled in Honfleur where his wife until recently ran a bar-tobacco, fishing tackle: the Bar des Artistes, which has now become the Bistrot des Artistes! The ceiling decorated by Fernand Herbo is still worth the detour - 14 Place Pierre Berthelot.
The nomadic life seduced him and he painted caravans and circuses, to be seen among the 23 works kept by the Eugène Boudin Museum.
