Ceremonial Portrait of Noble German Lady - amazing discovery of hidden monogram "J.E. 1826" disclosing Great American portraitist Jacob Eichholtz (1776 – 1842). As you can see on picture the monogram lower left was hidden by paint most likely to delete the trace of painting (?). Thus, the portrait was painted in Philadelphia in 1826 and authorship of Eichholtz is undoubted and painting is being of top importance in both historical and art aspects. Research brings important, previously not well-known face up to public knowledge: Johanna Karoline Mathilde Bohlen (1800 – 1882), grand-grand-grand-grandmother to Dutch Queen Beatrix. Between known works by Eichholtz this one excels in size. Oil painting on canvas, original frame.
Size app.: 110 x 87 cm (roughly 43.3 x 34.25 in) and frame ca 127 x 103 cm (roughly 50 x 40.5 in). Very Good condition, Minor wear, painting was cleaned and conserved recently, original frame!
