The Delafontaine house was founded in the 18th century. Auguste Delafontaine directed it from 1840 to 1885. He collaborated with the greatest cabinetmakers including Jacob-Desmalter for the realization of the bronzes of the Chapelle Expiatoire (Paris) or the bronze decorations of the Louvre Palace for King Charles X.
He is in charge of the ornamentation work in the royal palaces, the keyholes of the Louvre. Subsequently, the Delafontaine house became the competitor of the Barbedienne house. It developed an art casting activity for artists such as Durer, Barye, Pradier, etc.
