"Large Fan Vase, Arita - Imari, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)."
Beautiful Japanese porcelain vase. Hand-painted, the decor in typical Imari colors represents the animal and plant world: birds, pines, flowers such as chrysanthemums, various mosaics of plant ornaments as well as a mythical phoenix. Part of the decoration is represented on traditional Japanese fans of the Sensu/Ogi type. Fans appeared in Japan as early as the 6th century and are still an important symbol of the country's culture. Famous artists, such as Katsushika Isai, often made paintings on fans, which then served as inspiration for artists making objects in wood, lacquer or porcelain. Arita - Imari, Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Height 61.5 cm, diameter 35 cm. Very good condition, small rubbing on the gilding. Form and cost of delivery to be agreed.
