Painter. Predilection for interiors, family genre paintings, portraits. Researches the composition of colors and publishes "Coloring materials and painting processes employed by PP Rubens (Ghent 1847). Also publishes "Of light and color among the old masters" (Paris, 1847) Gives course of chemical experiments on the fixity of colors in oil paint given at the Louvre Palace, November and December, 1853, January and February, 1855,
Exhibited in Ghent in 1837,1843,1844. Professor at Verviers ( Belgium).
