"Giant Ciborium Louis XVI, 1798-1809, Bruges, Sterling Silver"
Impressive ciborium from the Empire period in solid silver, hallmarked with the first rooster Hallmark (1798-1809), with the hallmark of the Bruges guarantee office and with the diamond-shaped master goldsmith's hallmark depicting an unidentified C. Goldsmith. Very large in size, it is still deeply imbued with the Louis XVI style and the neoclassicism that was so successful at the end of the eighteenth century. Both in the techniques used by its author and in the decorations chosen, it is similar to the ciboria and chalices of around 1780-1790. It's cup is still perfectly golden. It weighs a generous 980 grams and is no less than 45 centimeters high.
