Object description :

"Antonio Da Ros (1936-2012) For Cenedese Neodymium Sommerso Glass Duck With Murrine, Ca 1962"
Antonio Da Ros, Duck, c. 1962, Execution: Gino Cenedese.
H. 20 cm; L. 23.5 cm.
Neodymium glass, fused murrine and ribbons in blue and red
Wonderful conditions with no chips or cracks

Neodymium glass is produced by the inclusion of neodymium oxide in the glass melt. Usually in daylight or incandescent light neodymium glass appears lavender, but it appears pale blue under fluorescent lighting. Neodymium may be used to color glass in delicate shades ranging from pure violet through wine-red and warm gray

Trained as an architect in Venice, Antonio Da Ros became Artistic Director of Gino Cenedese & C. in 1959. His refined and colorful Murrine and Sommerso series of the 1960s were celebrated at several Biennale exhibitions and he remained an important influential figure for both Cenedese and Murano glass for several decades.
Signed with partial decal manufacturer's label to underside of one example.
