Object description :

"Dutch Genre Scene After Hunting 17th Century Flemish School Oil Painting Framed"
Painted presumably in late 17th – early 18th century by Old Master, Adriaen de Grijef (1670 - 1715), painter from Northern Netherlands. In this painting, certain details that the artist loved, which were repeated in his various subjects, are clearly traced (see screenshot of auctions with his paintings). For example, a pair of almost identical dogs in similar poses, coloring and breed of these dogs, location of trophies, distant plan, details of architectural ruins (in the Italian Capriccio style) etc.  But in this painting, he decided to further develop the storyline and added characters: hunter who returned from a successful hunt and presumably his wife, who helps him. Here it is necessary to understand that in previous centuries people looked at hunting as a means of obtaining food, therefore naturalism dominates in the painting of the old masters. Old oil painting on canvas, nice framwed.

Adriaen de Grijef, sometimes "de Gryef" or "de Gryeff", is a Flemish master active in Antwerp and Brussels. He became a member of the Ghent Guild of St. Luke in 1687, and became a member of the Antwerp guild in 1700. He specialized in hunting scenes and still lifes with game, which he painted in small formats, in the manner of Frans Snyders, of whom he was a pupil.
