Very beautiful oak statuette with a pretty brown patina representing Saint Jerome penitent in the desert, dressed in a homespun and praying kneeling near a cross and a skull, characteristic of vanitas imagery. Rare delicacy of sculpture at the level of details: facial expression, rosary, rope enclosing the habit, draped with homespun, ... Height: 28cm. Base: 23cm x 13cm. Weight: 1230 grams.
