Copper Oil Lamp 4 Beaks, Wooden Foot, 19th Century Manual Art
Artist: Art Populaire
Improbable object: an oil lamp from cut copper, soldered with tin, in shape of flat cylinder with hemmed base, hemmed side handle, round foot that can be placed on a candlestick. Four bent iron wick rests form a St Georges's cross when copper cover is closed.
The craftsman who made it must have been proud: it is a very rare model, probably unique and has never been used.
It sits on a beautiful, rustic, 17th or 18th century candle stand, in an attractive patina... spectacular lamp.
Condition: as you can see, with flaws which are also qualities.
Diam. For lamp: 8.5cm, H: 35cm. Take a good look at our photos.....
